Filters allow you to modify your beam shape or color. In some cases it can be unmodified by a simple flip of the filter cover to bring your Sure-Fire back to its normal high intensity beam.
Beamshapers expand the narrow focus of the beam into a wide-angle flood beam (very important when viewing the inside of a car or house through glass; prevents the beam reflecting back and causing temporary loss of night vision). The special holographic lens expand the beam to over five times its original diameter without dark spots or rings in the beam.
Colored filters use an optical filter material to limit the color of the beam to blue, red or infra-red. Blue is useful to show blood trails as dark black; red to avoid loss of night vision; and infra-red light (invisible) when using your Night Vision Viewer.
